The Votem Mobile Voting Challenge

$230,000 USD

Challenge overview

Votem is a revolutionary mobile voting platform designed to securely cast votes in elections across the globe. We believe we can dramatically increase the voter turnout in the United States and the World by making voting easier, safer, and more accessible than any other current means. In this Challenge, we are asking Solvers for help in overcoming the significant obstacles that stand in the way of bringing safe, secure, and easy voting to people worldwide. These obstacles fall into three main categories that may be addressed individually or together: security, identification/authentication, and accuracy and verifiability.

We are not seeking software or computer code, but rather detailed White Papers/Blueprints/Specification documents that detail the programmatic manner and architecture of a system that overcome these obstacles in the best way possible.

By entering Challenge, you get to play a big part in helping to giving democracy back to the people in every country by allowing them to more easily participate in the electoral process.

This Challenge requires only a written proposal.

At Votem, we believe we can dramatically increase the voter turnout in the United States and the World by making voting convenient, accessible, safer, and more secure than any means utilized currently. Our goal over the next 10 years is to enable 1 billion voters to regularly participate in the democratic process. To achieve this, we are developing a platform for mobile voting that the world’s election bodies will recognize and certify for use in political and governmental elections.

In this Challenge, we are asking Solvers for help in overcoming the significant obstacles that stand in the way of bringing safe, secure, and easy voting to people worldwide. These obstacles fall into three main categories that may be addressed individually or together: a.) security, b.) identification / authentication, and c.) end-to-end voter verifiability (E2EVV).

This is a Theoretical Challenge that requires only a written proposal to be submitted.  The Challenge award will be contingent upon theoretical evaluation of the proposal by the Seeker.

Up to $230,000 in awards will be paid to Solvers. The best solutions that meet the specified Technical Requirements in each of the three primary areas will be eligible for $50,000 per area. In addition, awards of $20,000 each may be made to runner-up solutions in each primary area and to the solution that has the best overall platform integration. For truly exceptional submissions, Votem may be interested in having you be part of the organization that develops the final solution and/or a potential equity stake in the company in return for full IP ownership of the solution.

To receive an award, the Solvers will not have to transfer their exclusive IP rights to the Seeker.  Instead, they will grant to the Seeker non-exclusive license to use their solutions.

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on September 22nd, ,2015.  Late submissions will not be considered.
