OVERVIEW

InoCrowd are hosting an open innovation Challenge around the connection of materials in the day-to-day work of a civil construction company.

The goal in the Wall Connection “Quick Joint” Challenge is to find a new process or material for connecting two plasterboards, that is easy-to-install, requires minimal on-site preparation, and provides a durable and long-lasting joint.

Can you help InoCrowd source solutions that will reduce construction time and costs for the prize of €7,500?

THE CHALLENGE

Background

As a civil engineering and construction company, the Seeker for this Challenge is already at the forefront of construction techniques that promote building durability and material resilience.

The teams use technologies such as BIM to simulate various durability scenarios and compare costs. Currently, the Seeker’s method of connecting the plasterboards involves using a paster for joints and finishes, which is time-consuming and requires on-site preparation.

This Challenge hosted by InoCrowd is aiming to unlock improved efficiency, cost-savings, greater sustainability in processes, better quality control, enhanced competitiveness, and increased customer satisfaction for the Seeker organization.

Solution Requirements & Acceptance Criteria

InoCrowd is primarily interested in solutions with the potential to meet the following requirements of effectiveness, cost and process compatibility, scalability, and sustainability.

The proposed solution should effectively connect two plasterboards, forming a durable, long-lasting joint that is both acoustically-insulated and waterproof, meeting or even surpassing established industry standards. The joint should be imperceptible upon completion, maintaining a level surface across the boards while also ensuring the joint’s integrity and concealment.

Cost is of paramount importance in this Challenge, and your proposals should be cost-effective and provided cost savings or efficiency gains compared to the current method, without sacrificing quality or durability. The solution should also be compatible with the Seeker’s existing construction techniques and materials, ensuring easy adoption and integration.

Your proposal should be scalable and applicable to a variety of construction projects and settings, enabling broad adoption and integration. It should also be environmentally sustainable, minimize waste or environmental impact, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability and responsible construction practices.

Your submission should meet these must-have requirements in order to be considered for the €7,500 award:

  1. Effective
  2. Cost and process compatibility
  3. Scalability
  4. Sustainability
